The Hillsborough County Dental Research Clinic located in Tampa, Florida; was founded in 1968 as a place where community dentists could evaluate new equipment and dental procedures while at the same time serve the dental needs of the less fortunate. The program evolved into a General Practice Residency Program under the auspices of the late Dr. Peter Spoto. Over the years the program has continued to grow and is now housed at the Erwin Hi-Tec Center. The on-site dental clinic continues to serve the dental needs of the less fortunate as well as furthering the practice skills of the residents. Another role of the program is to serve as an educational resource for the ADA Accredited Dental Assisting Program at the Erwin Hi-Tec Center.
